First Playdate

Noah had his very first playdate with Ethan tonight! Granted, Noah was sleeping for 80% of it, and Ethan was feeding for 80% as well, but we'll still consider it a playdate.

preemie no more!

I'm ashamed to say that our poor son has been wearing the same three outfits over and over again. When we discovered that the newborn size was too big on him, we went out and bought a few preemie clothes. I couldn't rationalize spending loads of money on something that he'd outgrow super fast. Unfortunately, that meant daily loads of laundry. Oh well. I actually tried to put on a newborn outfit for Noah's trip to the pediatrician a few weeks back, but Matt told me that Noah looked like a homeless couples' baby because the clothes were hanging off him. And no child of mine shall look homeless, so he was changed right back into preemie outfit #2.
Well today, I decided to try again, and look how handsome he looks...still a little big, but definately not homeless looking. :)

Things we know

These past few weeks we've come to learn a thing or two...
1. Never forget to place a burp cloth over his privates when changing his diaper. Noah is known for his projectile poops and fountain-like peeing. Luckily, they've all been directed at his father.
2. Boy, does he love to eat. Last night he was up every hour demanding some nourishment. Perhaps a growth spurt?
3. He loves to stare at Mr. Whoozit

4. Noah likes to make sure that Daddy gets his aerobic exercise. When being held by him, he will settle for nothing less than being swayed or "be-bopped" around. The combination move is his favorite.
5. Bathtime is getting easier...Ever since his belly button crusty fell off, we've been keeping the warm water running on his skin, and it seems to really soothe him. Turns out the little fellow was probably just a bit cold with the sponge bath.

His very first friend

Noah met his very first friend yesterday...Ethan Robert Wilkinson was finally born yesterday after his mother Laura endured 36 hours of labor. He came wailing into the world a healthy 8lbs 12ozs. Congrats to the proud parents!

the bathtime blues

Smile or gas?

According to my "What to Expect the 1st Year" Book, babies don't start smiling until they're 6 weeks old. Maybe so, but doesn't this sure look like a smile?

He's feeding like a champ, don't his cheeks look like they're filling out?

An extra one for the grandparents...Noah can't wait to see you again!

Poor Noah

I woke up this morning earlier than the rest of my family and came back to the bedroom to see this...

The very sight of my two favorite people sleeping made my heart skip and want to burst with happiness...Unfortunately, I had a feeling of dread all morning knowing that my sweet little Noah had a special trip to the Ped's office to get circumcised today. So he went from the sweet, peaceful, sleeping baby up above, to this...

Matt was brave enough to watch and help out with the procedure. I on the other hand, was too chicken to watch. I spent the time pacing back and forth in the exam room, looking at pictures of other babies on the bulletin board and smiling to myself thinking that I had the cutest baby out of them all :) . The good news is that Noah is back to his birth weight already and the Dr. feels so confidant about him that she doesn't want to see him again for 2 months. Hip hip hooray!

Happy 1 week birthday!

Noah turned one week today! He came into the world March 30, 2008, weighing in at a mighty 5lbs, 12 ozs. We are so thankful to God that he is healthy and sound. His daily routine consists of: Eat, Poop, poop a little more, then sleep. We've discovered that he has the patience of his mother when he is hungry (meaning, when he wants food, he wants food now...not in a little bit, but NOW.). As first time parents, we are learning new things every day about how to care for a baby, such as burping (why is it that sometimes it takes him a few seconds to burp, and other times over 5 min? Is it really ok to keep thumping his back until he does?), changing diapers (what is it about a brand new, pristine diaper that makes him want to soil it immediately? Is it his way of marking his territory?), and bathing (what is it about a warm bath that makes him scream and cry as if we're purposefully torturing him? I mean, it's a warm bath, how bad could it really be?). With each day, something new is learned and it makes us fall deeper and deeper in love. He's perfect to us and we can't wait to get to know him better.
