month one of solids = big fat thumbs down
Our first month of trying out solids with Noah has been wildly unsuccessful. He's completely uninterested, wants nothing to do with it, and acts like we're torturing him. We've tried quite the variety of foods and have had the same response with all. He does this thing during meal time where he avoids eye contact/turns his head in order to avoid the spoon. What ends of happening is that Matt will try and hold his head in place to get him to try a bite, and then sputtering and gagging takes place. Any thoughts or ideas from veteran moms out there?

He'll eat when he's ready. This is the part where babies start having their own opinions (almost like they're real people!) and we have to listen to what they're telling us. However, you might try letting him feed himself. It's messy but my girls always seemed to like licking food off of their own fingers, instead of the spoon (they still do!)
ReplyDeleteThat is exactly what my Great Grandma told my mom and she had 8 kids, they will eat when they are ready but don't stop keep up the good work and let him explore the food...you are both good parents. Are the dates for September the 18-26th?
ReplyDeleteThose pictures look so familiar! Those are the same faces Ethan makes when we are trying to feed him! I think persistence pays off though...Just keep offering it to him and maybe eventually he'll want it! Ethan will actually once in a while open his mouth and dive for it of his own accord now! But not too often...I think it just comes little by little!
